Rotary Club Meeting Recap: John Myers Inspires with Insights on Conservation
This past Tuesday, June 3rd, our Rotary Club had the pleasure of hosting John Myers, Executive Director of Indian Creek Nature Center, for an engaging and insightful discussion on conservation, sustainability, and environmental stewardship. Meeting at the Indian Creek Country Club, members and guests were captivated by John’s deep knowledge and passion for protecting natural spaces.
John shared his journey—from his early love of the outdoors as an Eagle Scout to his leadership role at the Nature Center—highlighting the importance of hands-on education and sustainable practices. Under his guidance, the Nature Center has expanded its reach, offering interactive exhibits, extensive trails, and innovative programs that inspire people to connect with nature. He also discussed the significance of the Amazing Space facility, a NetZero energy and water building that stands as a model of sustainability.
Members left the meeting with a renewed appreciation for conservation and a deeper understanding of how nature centers play a crucial role in fostering environmental responsibility. We extend our heartfelt thanks to John for sharing his time and expertise, as well as to all those who attended.
Looking forward to seeing everyone at our next gathering!
