Help accelerate Rotary's pledge to End Polio Now. Join Rotary President Ray Klinginsmith and District 5130, 5150, 5160 and 5170 Rotarians, friends and family to walk the 1.2 miles across the Golden Gate Bridge. In the afternoon we'll shop, dine and enjoy the fun flavors and colors of the Ferry Building. At 7:30 RI President Ray will illuminate the Clock Tower with Rotary's pledge to End Polio Now.
1) The registration table will be at the "East Park" section of Pier 39. This is located on the Ferry Bldg. side of Pier 39. Hopefully, we will have the Foster City Rotary Wheel there (some details to work out yet), and we will be right next to the Sanrio "Hello Kitty" display area. This is located at the foot of Kearny Street. We are expecting about 3,000 Rotarians for this event.
2) Registrants who have paid the $25 registration fee will receive not only the very nice looking Tee shirts with the "End Polio Now" logo, the wrist band and a bottle of water, but also a "unpack" from Pier 39 with discount coupons for lots of things (there are a lot of coupons!), and also a nice certificate stating that you participated, signed by Rotary International President Ray Klinginsmith - an opportunity to have your picture taken with Ray at the Ferry Building as you complete your walk. In addition, many (if not all) vendors in the Ferry Building will be giving Rotary Discounts to Rotarians wearing the blue tee shirts. It truly will be a Rotary Day at the Ferry Building!!!
3) For those of you who sign up for the VIP Reception (from 5 pm to 7 pm), you will be admitted to the second floor where hors d'Ã…"uvres will be served, an open bar (no charge to you) will be available, and you will have an opportunity to be up-clase and personal with President Ray. He will also be speaking there.
4) If you don't want the things that go with signing up for the walk or the reception, you are still welcome to walk and take part in the evening viewing of the lighting of the Ferry Building.
5) For everyone - all of the above and anyone else who just shows up - the lighting of the Ferry Building will take place at approximately 7:30 pm. Ray will also be giving an address to the crowd outside. This should be a wonderful conclusion to a huge Rotary event - one that you won't want to miss.
6) You can sign up on the District 5150 website - - for any of the categories, anything from 0 expense to $25, or $150, or the "whole load" at $175. You may pay on-line by credit card. If you wish to pay by personal check please make your check payable to: RWPD 2010. Mail to: Joe Pfanhl, 333 West Santa Clara Street, San Jose, CA 95113
