Tuesday morning we heard Beverly Johnson, Paul Harris Fellow with her husband Bob Johnson, Paul Harris Fellow and former Bay Area Rotarian (SF #2 then Corte Madera Rotary before moving).  This author thought it was the best program we have had in years!  (How about...since the famous "learn to dance" one before I joined?)  Beverly talked about downsizing (big time...to one POD storage box), renting their Marin home, and traveling everwhere.  I believe I heard 125,000 miles, 35 countries, since 2011.
We learned their budget ($300 a day, but mostly spending $200); their advice (chargers, GPS with current info for country, cell/laptops); and their limitations (one backpack and one suitcase each).
We learned of their traumas (mugging and theft); their triumphs (visiting Rotary Clubs sounded great fun); and their daily activities (guess what...same as in Marin; washing, cooking, reading, and walking). Maybe travel is not for everyone, but for those who are tempted, the Johnson's have it down to a science!  They leave Jan 3 to cross the Atlantic again so if anyone else wants to book them...move fast.  KUDOS TO PRESIDENT BEV SHWERT for starting a conversation at a Rotary event that lead to their booking.  Way to go!
