We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.
 
We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.
 
We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:
  • Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
  • Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
  • Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
  • Promote literacy and career guidance in schools
 
Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.
 
The Rotary Club of  Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

This week we’ll be welcoming Rotarian Renee Kuhlman, with he Vandenberg Village Rotary Club, to present on her non-profit “Coast Caregivers Resource Center”.  CCRC provides support to non-paid, usually family member, in home healthcare providers, throughout Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.  Services provided range from respite care to counseling services.  I look forward to hearing from Renee, so please join us this Thursday.

Meeting May 21, 2020
PE Margarida led our meeting today in place of President Jeff
 
We started our meeting with our speaker, Monica White, CEO from FoodShare.
 
PE Margarida let us know that we are working through a few Zoom issues that we will try and get fixed before next week.
 
Kathy McGee read an email from Cynthia Hashbarger and Cynthia let us know that Tom is under Hospice care at home.
 
Rich Stewart let us know that John Borneman’s son is donating all of John’s shoes to Mossy Foot.
 
Kathy McGee gave our Inspirational Message.
 
Tim Hughes let us know that we awarded 39 scholarships this year. Tim thanked his team of Amber Stevens, Ken Kagan and Wendy Pazen. We had over 50 applications 19 repeat awardees…
 
Joe Strohman said that Tom Hasbarger is a Veteran and always helped organize our Veteran’s day programs.
 
Next week our program will be Amy Towner to give us an update on the RM Family Room.

News from Rotary International

With help from a Rotary Foundation global grant, a group of women in rural Costa Rica are using ecotourism to enrich their families' futures.

 

Rotary clubs in districts across Italy worked together to procure state-of-the-art equipment needed to combat the deadly coronavirus disease for 26 hospitals around the country.

 

The ongoing evolution of Rotaract is redefining its place within Rotary.

 

Rotary clubs in East Africa are forging partnerships to provide hand washing stations and food in areas where social distancing is a luxury that few can afford.

 

Members help launch site so merchants can sell goods, organize supplies to make sanitizer, and provide food to health care workers.
