We did it again! Another successful Poinsettia Plant sale is a wrap! Thank you to the Committee: Kathy McGee, Abbi Hanoch, Renee Burke, Bruce McGee, Nancy D'Atillio, Dawn Knowles, Jacquelyn Gargano, and Cal Magro. And all the helpers. Thank you to all for getting the orders and getting them delivered. We have been receiving lots of good feedback from businesses and individuals. It’s a lot of work, but brings a lot of cheer and goodwill. I stopped by Cypress Place and received happy smiles of gratitude.
This week we will have Roberta Griega from NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) talking about programs and progress in Ventura County in the areas of mental health. This is a focus of our Rotary International President Gordon McInally and a good reminder that this time of year is not always happy, especially for those who are alone.
Bell Ringing and the Holiday Party are still ahead. Be sure to sign up. Flyers for what to bring to the holiday party for the Family Justice Center will be at the tables again this week and in the Breeze soon if not yet. Jacquelyn Gargano will be collecting unwrapped toys and books for kids to to take to Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC where Santa will have regular rounds to make. I hear the hospital pediatric unit is full to capacity.
There is still time to sign up to decorate the Rotary Rose Parade Float. Saturday, December 23 is wide open: 8-5 or 5pm-8 pm. You can check it out and sign up at rotaryfloat.org. If you go to “see who’s going” you will see the complete availability. There is a $15 cost to cover the t-shirt and lunch or dinner.
For a festive holiday evening, New Arts City Theatre is having a Christmas Show at Scherr Theatre Thousand Oaks on December 15th. Founded by Rotary Club of Ventura members, it is a non-profit professional theater company for emerging artists. Go to
