Rotary Club of Ventura-East

Elevator Speech

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian social organization comprising local business, civic and professional leaders. We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to solve community and global problems with service projects. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools
Internationally we support a medical project in Ethiopia and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community. Use your professional skills and talents to make a difference.

Rotary Club of Ventura-East 2022 Scholarship Application

Multiple Scholarships of up to $7,500.00 will be awarded.

Approximately $125,000.00 will be awarded.

Available to graduating VUSD seniors who are attending two or four year colleges or vocational & technical schools. Prior scholarship recipients may re-apply.

Hello fellow Rotarians and friends of Ventura East. Even though it is just February, it is hard to believe that it is still winter. There is a little chill in the air in the evenings, but the days have been sunny and no rain in sight. We can count our blessings that we were either smart enough or lucky enough to be here in Southern California and not back East with all of that snow.

As the Covid cases appear to be on the decline in Ventura County, it looks like people are starting to get out of their homes a bit more and enjoying a little freedom. That is really good news. With that in mind, Ashley Pope has a great program lined up for us this week. We will be thanking our local non-profits for all of their hard work while combatting the challenges as of late. If there are any members that would like to volunteer as a group to help at the Food Share project, please let me or another Board Member know and we will set a date as a project date. On Sunday February 27, the Ventura South club will be hosting their 6th Mardi Gras at the Tower Club. Anyone interested, please let ma or a Board member know so that we can get you the tickets. On March 3^rd, we will have an off-site meeting at Pacific High School. We will start a little earlier that usual. 11:30 – 12:00 we will tour the campus. Boxed lunch from Stacy will be provided from 12:00-12:30, and then we will have a tour of the garden www.saaliyasranch.com https://venturausd.org/pacific/Home.aspx . Because we will be providing boxed lunches, we will need to know how many are attending, so we will have a sign-up sheet. This should be a great outing.

Last Saturday we did the Rise Above Hunger event. 3 Rotary Clubs, 1 Rotaract Club, 2 Interact Clubs and 1 Lions club came together and packaged 10,000 meals.

Board voted to donate $2,000 to the Reel Guppy’s Resource Center Project.

President Cal read a letter from Cypress Place thanking the club for the poinsettia donations.
