2024 College Scholarship Applications

Multiple Scholarships up to $7,500.00 will be awarded.
Approximately $125,000.00 total will be awarded.

Available to graduating VUSD seniors who are attending two or four year colleges or vocational & technical schools.

College students who are prior recipients of a
Rotary Club of Ventura East scholarship may re-apply.

RCVE Foundation Directors at Large

The club will be electing 2 club members to serve on the Board of Directors for our Foundation (Rotary Club of Ventura-East Foundation, Inc.). The term is 3 years from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027. If you wish to be on the ballot, please submit your name to Joe Strohman (Foundation secretary) within the next two weeks. The club will elect the two new Foundation board members at a regular club meeting in January 2024.

Dear Rotarians and Friends,

This week is our holiday party at Bill Gray’s house. Entrance requires an item or few for the Family Justice Center: Bath and hygiene items (toothpaste, shaving kits, feminine products, shampoo and conditioner); essentials such as socks, baby diapers, wipes, soft blankets; Visa gift cards of any amount. Looking forward to seeing you there. Tim Hughes has the guest list.

Last week Roberta Griego shared her story of mental illness touching her family and the resources that NAMI offers in times of crisis and ongoing support programs.

There is still one more day of bell ringing for the Salvation Army at Green Thumb on Saturday. Cal Magro has the sign up list. Our participation is greatly appreciated and the funds raised help those most in need in our community. Thank you to all those who participated last Saturday.

We will be dark on December 28th and then back with a line-up of exciting programs in January. Enjoy the holidays to the fullest. Celebrate. Stay well. I look forward to seeing you at the party this week and to ringing in 2024 with you on January 4th!!

Meeting December 14, 2023

Vance Thompson led us in the Flag Salute.

President Carin thanked out greeter Renne Burke and Nancy D’Attilio for helping at the front desk. Dawn Knowles is taking attendance and Jeff Hata for bringing the Opportunity Drawing.

This weekend is the last chance to see Bill Spellman in A Christmas Story at the Ojai Theatre.

The Holiday Party is December 21 and Bill & Kim Gray’s home. Joe Strohman let us know some of the items we would like for you to bring for the Family Justice Center.

Rotary Club of Ventura-East

Elevator Speech

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian social organization comprising local business, civic and professional leaders. We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to solve community and global problems with service projects. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools
Internationally we support a medical project in Ethiopia and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community. Use your professional skills and talents to make a difference.
