Welcome Rotarians and friends of The Rotary Club of Ventura East. Spring is in the air a little early this year, as our plants and trees are trying to lead us into summertime. Never mind what the calendar says, Nature knows best. We have such a loaded calendar planned for the next couple of months, I hope you are all rested up and ready for action. The city has planned a St. Patrick’s Day parade that we will be participating in on Saturday March 12 at 10:00 am. We will be looking for our members to march in the Parade as we have in years past, and then gather for some calibration at the end of the route.
Last Thursday started with the Ribbon Cutting for The Reel Guppies, a relatively new organization that helps mentor “At Risk” kids and teaches them to fish as well as other skills. Our club presented them with a $2,000.00 check to help them get rolling. After the festivities, we immediately headed to “The Garage” for our monthly social. There was plenty of mingling with members, spouses, and guests. I believe that a good time was had by all.
In last week’s Breeze, I announced a service project at Food Share on Wed. March 3rd. The date should have read Wed. March 2nd. All of those interested in joining us, please let me know so that I can give them a head count. College Park, Oxnard. Registration starts at 12:30. Distribution from 1:30-4:30.
****I must report some sad news. Former member Richard Jimenez passed away in early February, due to complications from Covid.
Just a reminder that Sunday February 27, the Ventura South club will be hosting their 6th Mardi Gras at the Tower Club. Anyone interested, please let me or a Board member know so that we can get you the tickets. On March 3
rd, we will have an off-site meeting at Pacific High School. We will start a little earlier than usual. 11:30 – 12:00 we will tour the campus. Boxed lunch from Stacy will be provided from 12:00-12:30, and then we will have a tour of the garden
