I am constantly inspired by work going on in our community to encourage and coach people into attaining their best selves. Last week we heard Beth Baumer talk about the success, camaraderie, and fun of the Neuroboxing fight camp that she developed to help her father fight the effects of Parkinson’s disease. Many of us have friends that have suffered strokes or have other neurological challenges that could benefit from being in this environment of support.
On Thursday evening, I accepted an award from City Center on behalf of the club for donating the seed money for their brand new Learning Center. This was a ribbon cutting and open house to the program that provides transitional housing to families and a path to becoming productive, self-sufficient members of society. We as a club can be proud to be among the many community partners and generous individuals making these success stories possible. Thank you to Judy Hoag and Bruce McGee for joining me.
This week we will hear from Sarah Abrams from Love Ventura, an organization coordinating ways to show our city how much we love it with a variety of new and ongoing volunteer opportunities.
We are still taking sign ups for the Maui Fundraiser, Luau Breakfast on Sept. 12. Buffet served from 7-9 at Sterling Hills. $50 per person. Contact Cal.
