Rotary Club of Ventura-East

Elevator Speech

We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

Another year for a successful fundraiser. Thank you so much to Roy Valdez for organizing our Poinsettias Fundraiser and to all the volunteers that delivered to our customers this past weekend.

It was great to hear from David Endaya our Fire Chief at the last meeting. What a great presentation.

Great news from our 1^st Bob Pazen Nurse Scholarship awardee Erika Allen. She is officially working as a RN in the Surgery Department at CMH.

Ventura County Family Justice Center is doing a toy drive on Saturday Dec. 12 from 10a to 2pm at 3170 Loma Vista Rd. (in back parking lot). Please consider donating some unwrapped toys.

Meeting November 19, 2020

President Margarida led us in the Flag Salute.

Presidents Announcements:

Next week Dark
Thanksgiving Pies are still for sale. Need to know by Sunday.
Poinsettia sales are still going slow. We need to continue to sell. We have a reduction in our cases from 500 down to 300 cases.
Rotary Gratefulness day went well. We gave 3 dozen cupcakes to 5 grocery stores in the Ventura. Everyone was very appreciative.

Amber Stevens said that Salvation Army Bell ringing is full. Thank you everyone who signed up.

Sharon Daly has been doing research on the lockdown globally. Food chains are threatened due to the lockdowns. President of the UN General Assembly is releasing $100 million dollars to open up the food chains in threatened areas.

Carin Kally said we need to do 96 Christmas Cards for the residents at Cypress Place. President Margarida, Sharon Daly and Kathy McGee said they would help Carin with the cards.

President Margarida talked about the Virtual Christmas Party on December 17^th at 6:00.
