Rotary Club of Ventura-East

Elevator Speech

We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

Last week for our 3^rd Thursday fun day we played Zoom Bingo and it was fun. Congratulations to Jeff Hata and Ashley Pope for being the winners, and a big Thank you to Laura Shannon Prager for donating the Bingo Prizes. Next month we will play “Name That Tune”.

Thank you to Ken Kagan for volunteering to help at the last Thursday Takeaway Dinners.

It was so sad to hear of Bill Klope passing, August 17^th(1930-2020) Bill was dedicated to the Boy Scouts of America and President of our Rotary Club in 1986-1987. Please take some time to think of something to share about Bill at our next meeting. No services are planned at this time.

This week our presenter will be Marlyss Auster the President and CEO of Ventura Visitors and Convention Bureau. Take a look at the beautiful presentation of our city at www.visitventuraca.com

We were led in the Flag Salute today by Jim Word.
