Last week, on the 61st Anniversary of our Club Charter, we welcomed our newest member, Cameron DeJong. Thank you to Derek Eidson for performing the induction ceremony. Stay tuned for a profile of Cameron on our club website.
Join me in welcoming Ventura Spirits as our program this Thursday. They partner with county growers and make some delicious and definitively local spirits. Some of their products are now available at Trader Joe’s and other big name chains, so they must be doing something right. They are friends to the community, the environment, and the economy so we will be presenting them with a Business Ethics Award. Bring a guest.
Next week is the Nurse Scholarship awards presentation program. Be there to hear the amazing stories of these dedicated individuals, and encourage their dedication.
Thank you to last week’s speaker, Mark Bridges, from the Industrial Emergency Council for his program about how hospitals and first responders are trained to handle large scale and diverse emergency events.
Thank you also to Allyson DesBaillet, from the City of Ventura Recreation Dept for starting our meeting last week with the run down on the run up to the Push’em Pull’em Parade on July 4th.
Time for the big push for the Food, Wine, and Beer Festival on June 8th at Camp Arnaz. Direct people to purchase online by forwarding the flier with the website information. Physical tickets are available from Cal. Any tickets you sell need to have the ticket stub filled out and returned with the payment. Fliers will be available at the meeting if you would like to post in your favorite business. Sure to be a festive afternoon of sampling some of the best Ventura County has to offer. Step down for me is on June 20th at Bright Spark Brewing. Mark your calendars !! Festivities begin at 5:30. Since this falls on our Third Thursday, each member may bring one guest for free. A sign up sheet will be circulating at the meetings.
