Greetings Fellow Rotarians of Ventura East. We continue to be fortunate enough to have a lot going on every week.
Our meeting started on time with Oscar Hernandez leading us in the Salute to our Flag and Rich Stewart introducing our guests. Stacy continues to surprise us with fabulous meals.
Bruce McGee started us off by giving us a short update on the membership goals and then presented both Oscar Hernandez and Emily Barany with their long-awaited BLUE Badge. We then began our Club Assembly by hearing from Joe Strohman on Vocational Service, Ashley Pope on Youth Services, Emily Barany on Community Service, Bruce McGee on Membership, and Margarida Eidson on Fundraising.
The club had a group discussion on the Poinsettia sales and then broke up into smaller groups to learn more and give thoughts on the other club services. Thank you all for participating and helping us continue to move in a forward direction.
We had one guest that is new to the area. She is looking for a way to get involved and serve the community, and we stand a very good chance to see her again as she was the lucky winner of our $ 50.00 raffle donated by Bruce McGee.
September is Membership Month. Bring a friend or someone that you know for a free lunch. Just don’t do it this week September 3rd. Cal has agreed to feed the Happy dollar jar with $ 5.00 for each guest during September. I guess that means that Call owes the pot $ 5.00 already.

A little uncomfortable news to report. I am sure by now you are aware that the County of Ventura has issued a mandate for Masks indoors. The guidelines are not including Social Distancing at this point. The Board had a meeting on Monday evening as to how we, The Rotary Club of Ventura East, want to handle the meetings. The Motion was made and approved that
“For the good of the Club, VERC will follow the County Guideline while it is in effect and mask up when meeting, not eating. The BOD feels this follows the 4 way test. Please do not put the BOD and President Cal in the uncomfortable position of having to ask you to leave, if you are not willing to follow this decision. The club has provided Zoom so all members may be active in the club.”
This goes into effect immediately.
