Hello Fellow Rotarians of Ventura East. Last Thursday we were fortunate enough to have another full agenda. Our meeting started on time with Harriet leading us in the Salute to our Flag and Vance introducing our guests. Stacy created another mouthwatering feast, and no one went away hungry.
Our first guest speaker was Bennett Collins, President of the Rotaract club. He told us of some of their programs, but more importantly told us of the decline of membership due to the Covid situation. He encouraged us to promote any of our family or friends of family within that age group to try out the club .With a $60.00 per year membership, some memberships would even be sponsored by some of our members.
Our next program was Grace Harback, past president of the Rotaract club. Grace gave a very interesting slide presentation of her missionary trip to Ethiopia. We then heard from our own Bruce representing the Membership Committee and their recommendations for increasing our membership. With the loss of members during Covid, we need to bring in 10 more members this year to be on target. September is Membership Month. Bring a friend or someone that you know for a free lunch. Just don’t do it this week September 3rd. Cal has agreed to feed the Happy dollar jar with $ 5.00 for each guest during September.
IMPORTANT
A little uncomfortable news to report. I am sure by now you are aware that the County of Ventura has issued a mandate for Masks indoors. The guidelines are not including Social Distancing at this point. The Board had a meeting on Monday evening as to how we, The Rotary Club of Ventura East, want to handle the meetings. The Motion was made and approved that
“For the good of the Club, The Rotary Club of Ventura East will follow the County Guideline while it is in effect and mask up when meeting, not eating. The Board feels this follows the 4 way test. Please do not put the Board or President Cal in the uncomfortable position of having to ask you to leave, if you are not willing to follow this decision. The club has provided Zoom so all members may be active in the club.”
This goes into effect immediately.
