TRICK OR TREAT Rotarians of Ventura East. It’s that time of year again when the little ghosts and goblins will be running around looking for candy hand-outs, and slightly scary decorations. Last year, our club handed out goodies to cars with youngsters in them at the Poinsettia Pavilion. This year, the chamber will be sponsoring a candy giveaway downtown and have asked if we would like to participate. The chamber will supply the candy, we just need about 6 volunteers to stand at different locations to pass it out. Please contact Ashley Pope if you would like to help. We have 2 volunteers so far, we could use about 4 more. Please remember that the Rotary club of Santa Paula is also running their Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser every Saturday and Sunday thru the end of October. Please let me know if you are available.

 

As “Normal” human behavior, most of us get wound up in the day-to-day minutia of life, and many of the things that we intend to do just slip through the cracks. While seemingly of little importance to us, some of these things are very important to those around us. I am speaking of, among other things, reaching out to people that we know, friends, that for what ever reason, cannot get out in circulation with the rest of us, and are stuck at home. We all know some people like this. Our intentions are there, but somehow, we just don’t get around to making that visit or phone call. We have a member of our club that could really benefit from our calls and short visits. Midge Stork is a longtime hard-working member of our club that would truly appreciate a visit with other club members. I know that we all have busy schedules, but that never stopped her from helping to benefit the community.

 

Last Thursday, the 21^st, the club was dark and we will have our social at Peirano’s.  With about 20 in attendance, all seemed to have a great time, with food and great conversation. The weather is changing, and it might be time to put away those short pants. Don’t forget the joint Ventura Rotary Polio fundraiser Tuesday evening October 26. The location is MJP Technologies at 3036 Seaborg Ave. Ventura. From 5:30 – 7:30, the BBQ dinner is priced at $ 40.00 per person, or $70.00 per couple.
