Hello  Rotarians of Ventura East.  I have noticed that one of the questions most often asked by the president is “Does anyone really read the articles in the Breeze?”  I now know the answer. At least one of you does because he caught my big mistake.  Last week, after the Salute to the flag, and a moment of silence, we actually sang “God Bless America”, not “Amazing Grace”. I would like to say that I did that purposely to see if you were paying attention, but that wouldn’t pass the 4-wat test. I will gladly pay my Happy Dollars for that one.  Last Thursday we were dark and we had a wonderful club social at Waters Edge. The evening was beautiful most of the time but turned a bit chilly towards the end. Food was plentiful and conversation was lively. I hope that you will agree that these evenings help build a stronger club by example of the 4-way test. Congratulations to Ashley Pope on a great choice.

 

On a sad note, I got word today of the passing of a former member, Jim Emch. Although I had never met him, I am sure a lot of you did. We are saddened by the news. Cynthia Hashbarger will let us know more details when they become available.

 

Thank you all for your response to Emily Barany's questionnaire. She and Kathy McGee are working on the results so they can come up with 2 or 3 monthly opportunities for our members to volunteer in the community. There will also be an easy response for our members to reply to volunteer.

 

It’s that time of year again, and the poinsettia plants are growing strong and ready to be sold. I am sure that we will have a banner year in sales. Margarida Eidson and her team are working hard to make this the best year yet. I will donate a special gift to the member with the most sales this year.
