Impact our community and the world.  If that’s our goal, then fundraising is one area we need to focus on.  This past Thursday we began our journey to find the right fundraising event (s) for our club.  We’ve identified the need for some kind of small (well maybe not so small) event, possibly beginning this year, followed perhaps by an even larger event, in the near future.  We’d like to focus our efforts, in the short term, on an event here in Ventura, Poinsettia Pavilion, with a cornhole tournament or expanded puzzle competition.  These seem very doable events, (we already have a running start when it comes to an expanded puzzle competition).

When it comes to an even larger event, we discussed a country music festival, soccer-golf tournament, Christmas tree decorating/auction, and Field of Lights event.  All of which we’ll continue to explore, as we narrow the field and arrive at our selected event.  At our October Board meeting, I plan to ask the Board for additional guidance and will report to the Club in the near future.  Keep an eye open for updates.  I’d like to thank everyone for providing wonderful ideas - Keep them coming.

To keep on this theme of fundraising, our Club’s Thirty-Second Annual Poinsettia Plant Sales has begun.  You can pick-up flyers at our weekly meetings or contact Judy Hoag for information.  Thank you, Judy for your continued leadership and guidance on this very important event.   Free delivery is scheduled for Thursday December 5th.  The Poinsettia Plant Sales is our only major fundraising activity at this time, so remember your ABC’s.  Always Be Closing (If you don’t get the movie reference – See me).

Our guest speaker this Thursday is our very own County Treasurer Tax-Collector, Judge Steven Hintz.  It’s going to be a very informative meeting, a wonderful opportunity to bring a potential new member.

Future Club Events/Dates:
October 12th – District Assembly
October 30th – XXXXX
November 9th – Rotaract Mexico Build
December 5th – Poinsettia Plant Sale deliveries
December 19th – Club Holiday Party
January 23rd – District Governor visit

See you Thursday.
