Hello my fellow Rotarians of Ventura East. This will be a short article, as my computer crashed along with most of my notes.
Last week we had a great meeting beginning with Carin Kally greeting the members and guests, and then leading us in the Salute to our Flag. Todd Juvonen welcomed our guests, and we all enjoyed another great meal prepared by Stacy. After lunch, Harriet Clune gave us a very inspirational message about those of us that talk to ourselves. While most of us don’t admit to doing that, it is actually good for our self-image.
Rich Stewart sold raffle tickets for a bag of goodies donated by Carin Kally, Thank you! Margarida Eidson is requesting that we turn in our Poinsettia sales request as we go and not wait until the end. Some of our members committed to case purchases to be donated to the Senior home that we donated to last year. Remember that there will be a gift giver to the member that sells the most.
We had two speakers last week. The first was Sandee Milton, Director of Ventura School of Nursing. After thanking us for our many scholarships to needy students, she gave a report on how Covid lowered their student count, and now there is a resurge in applicants. After Sandee’s presentation, Jeff Hata gave us a recap on how to navigate thru Club Runner. He makes it look so darn easy.
The Rotary Club of Santa Paula is conducting its annual Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser every Saturday and Sunday thru the end of October. They have requested volunteers from our club to work on any of the remaining weekends. Please contact me to schedule a time slot.
The Rotary club of Ventura Downtown is having their annual Polio Fundraiser and have asked for our help. The date is Tuesday Oct. 26th. 5:30 – 7:30. Dinner and auction. Cost is $40.00 per person or $70.00 per couple.
