Rotary Club of Ventura-East

Elevator Speech

We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

What a great event we had last Thursday. Thank you so much to Ashley Pope for putting together our first Rotary Jeopardy, it was so much fun.

Sunday August 16^th will be a virtual Aut2Run fundraiser for the Autism Society of Ventura County. You can join the Ashley Pope/ Gavin’s team at Aut2run.org.

Even though students will not be going back to the classroom, they will still need school supplies. This year the Rotary Club of Ventura-Downtown changed their backpack community service project so, unfortunately, they will not need our help to fill the backpacks. Our club donated $1,000 to help the volunteers get supplies and work on the backpacks individually.

This week’s program will be the returning recipients of our scholarship awards. Tim Hughes contacted the awardees and we will be able to see their faces and to hear what they are planning.

We had another great Takeout Thursday Dinner last week. Be on the lookout for a little change to provide you with 2 meal options for you to pick from.

This week’s “ Joe Strohman Rotary Spotlights” will feature Jim Word.
