Rotary Club of Ventura-East

Elevator Speech

We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

Last week we heard from our very own Ventura County Supervisor Matt Lavere. Great and positive meeting.

This week we will have a presentation from Angie Brinkhoff from the Autism Society.

Just in time before the Aut2Run virtual walk this coming Saturday.

Ashley Pope – Interact is on Spring Break. Thank you Tom Swan for dropping off postcards to use for pen pals.

Bruce McGee let us know that the Membership Committee will be launching a membership campaign soon. There are a few prospects in the pipeline.

Joe Strohman thanked the club for sock donations for the Rotaract fundraiser.

We have an opportunity to help FoodShare on May 5^th in Oxnard.
5 applications have been turned in for the Bob Pazen Vocational Service scholarship.
4 Way Test essay contest is ongoing.
Talks are underway to find a way to remember Ron Polito for his service to the club and Rotary.

Our speaker today was Amy Towner who spoke about the Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC.

Amber Stevens gave us the link for the Walk for Kids and we are about 75% away from our goal.

Amber also gave a link to sign up to help at a school to paint at Elmhurst Elementary, Gavin’s School!

President Margarida said that Cabrillo Music Department is in need for help paint their practice room.

Mission Ventura Church and FoodShare has joined forces and created Food 805. The project is called Feed 805. Pick up a bag from Margarida and put canned foods in it and return it to Margarida.

RCVE Makes a Donation to the Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East presented Amy Towner with a check for $4,575.00 to help support the Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC.
