Dear Rotarians and Friends,

This  Thursday is the 3rd Thursday and our social is The Taste of Ventura at the History Museum on Main Street starting at 5 p.m. Margarida has the list of attendees and guests.

Friday, we have volunteered to prepare and serve lunch at Blackstock Jr. High School’s 6th grade orientation. Contact Rich Stewart if you want to help.

Saturday is the Back to School Backpack Community Service Project at the Ventura Unified School District Office on Stanley. We join forces with Ventura Downtown Club and the Lions.  Be there at 9:30 a.m. to help fill packs with school supplies.

Hawaii Rotary District 5000 has established a Charitable Fund to aid those affected by the wildfires in Maui. An email with this information was sent out by our DG Marta Brown.  Printouts with the QR code will be available at the August 24th meeting.
On a bright note, last  week we had the pleasure of promoting Abbi Hanoch to full membership AND awarding her with a Paul Harris Fellow.  One of the favorite duties of Club President.  Thank you to her sponsor, Bruce McGee.

Our Program on CPR and using AED machines laid out what happens in sudden cardiac arrest and how to do CPR (compressions only to the tune of Stayin’ Alive) and to follow the instructions from the AED; and that you need to do both to give someone the best chances of recovery. Our club will be looking at sponsoring an AED for the Poinsettia Pavilion in conjunction with the other service clubs that meet here.
