We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.

We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.

We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:

Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
Promote literacy and career guidance in schools

Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.

The Rotary Club of Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

Happy Valentine's Day to all

On this beautiful day we celebrate love, I like to celebrate all of you that serve humanity with me under the name of Rotary. It is the greatest act of love when you give to others, whether it is money, time or energy, with one aim of improving human quality of life all over the world.

Love is the greatest power of all, it brings us together and brings us the greatest feelings of all, joy and happiness. Being part of Rotary it is easy to see why Rotarians are happy people, as we know happiness is an inside job, it starts with loving yourself, you need the truth and to live with a purpose, the greatest purpose all is serving others.

This week in Rotary we have Past District Governor Wade Nomura, speaking to us about our District Rotary Foundation, while inducting two new members and honoring some of our members with Paul Harris Fellowships, make sure you don't miss.

Harriet Clune led us in the Flag Salute.

Bill Spellman introduced guests and visiting Rotarians. Guests of the club were Melody O'Leary and Steve Harbison. Visiting from the Rotary Club of Ventura-South were John & Kendall Metina.

Bill Crookston gave our Inspirational Message.

Tim Blackwell announced that we will be inducting Steve Harbison and Melody O'Leary. Tim also awarded blue badges to Kris Hansen, Michael Martin and Sharon Daly.

Midge Stork announced our raffle prize was a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card plus to other sweetheart gifts.

Joe Strohman and Natalie Debbas conducted our Student of the Quarter presentations. First Natalie thanked the club for participating in Mock Interviews and said they went GREAT! The students really appreciate us coming in.

Our first Student of the Quarter was Giovanni Flores from the Business Department. Giovanni's sponsor was Laura Shannon.

Our second Student of the Quarter was Brandon Fairweather from the Automotive Department. Brandon's sponsor was Carol Marquez-Olson.

Kendall Metina announced the Mardi Gras Party being hosted by the Ventura-South club on February 26th from 3 - 7. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to Turning Point Foundaion.

John Masterson announced that the cruise is one month away! Cabins are still available.

We already have a fun group of 12 couples signed up for our first ever Ventura Rotary Cruise March 9th. Best news? There are plenty of reserved staterooms for more! This 4 day "Bash and Splash" party will kick off from SAN PEDRO on Thursday, March 9th with stops in CATALINA and ENSENADA.

Many Rotarians are taking family and friends with them. What a great way to show off Rotary's congeniality. "Good deeds AND good times".

Besides the plentiful activities and entertainment provided by our luxurious Princess Star, Capt'n Cruise (AKA John Masterson) has added group only excitements like a Rotary scavenger hunt, keroake contest and cocktail parties.

When Teguest Yilma helped found the Rotary Club of Addis Ababa Entoto in 2002, she thought polio had already been eradicated from most of the world. One of United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s earliest memories is of fleeing with his family into the mountains during the Korean War, his village burning behind him.
