This may be my last installment of 2023! My, the time has flown. Thank you to Steve Kally for filling in last week with an informative presentation on investment, estate, and planned giving tips for the end of the year and beyond.
That was our financial health program. This week we will have Roberta Griega from NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) talking about programs and progress in Ventura County in the areas of mental health. This is a focus of our Rotary International President Gordon McInally and a good reminder that this time of year is not always happy, especially for those who are alone.
Next week is our holiday party at Bill Gray’s house. Tim Hughes has the signup sheet. This counts as our Third Thursday Social. Entrance requires an item or few for the Family Justice Center: Bath and hygiene items (toothpaste, shaving kits, feminine products, shampoo and conditioner); essentials such as socks, baby diapers, wipes, soft blankets; Visa gift cards of any amount. Also, we are still collecting unwrapped toys and kids books to take to Ronald McDonald Family Room at VCMC where Santa is very busy. The rest of our community service for the holidays involves bell ringing for the Salvation Army. Cal has the sign ups for our two dates at Green Thumb.
We will be dark on December 28th and then back with a new line up of exciting programs in January. Enjoy the holidays to the fullest. Celebrate. Stay well. Think of business acquaintances to invite to meetings, and I look forward to seeing you at the holiday party and to ringing in the New Year with you on January 4, 2024!!
