Our Flag Salute was led by Tom Swan. Inspirational Message was given by Roy Valdez. Introduction of guests & visiting Rotarians was done by Todd Juvonen. Guest of Bill Gray was Kim Gray and guest of Bruce McGee was Kat Merrick. Congratulations to Bill and Kim Gray for celebrating their 26th Wedding Anniverary. I want to thank the greeter Amber Stevens & Todd Juvonen for taking attendance. Midge Stork let us know that Dave is recovering slowly in Ojai. It has been rough, but Dave seems to be getting a little better every day. Midge announced that our raffle prize today was a $50 gift card to Wood Ranch BBQ. John Borneman led us in a song. This week was a very busy week for us. Saturday, Amber Stevens, Alison Thompson and Ashtin Costa helped out at FoodShare washing out the food collection barrels that will be distributed soon for holiday food collection while Rich Stewart, Harriet Clune, Michelle Cekov and I were packing Senior Meal Kits at FoodShare. This was all in support of United Way's Day of Caring. I look forward to this day and the various projects we have helped in over the years and look forward to next year. Thank you to Amber Stevens for arranging this service project and a huge thank you to all our members who came out in support of FoodShare and the United Way.
On Monday Buena Interact had their meeting and decided that they will come out and walk at the NAMI Walk on October 13th with us. This will be the first service project for Buena Interact and they look forward to doing more as they gain momentum and get their legs under them. They had a few more students come join them this week so they had over 30 students in attendance. Thank you to Kris Hansen and Rich Stewart for coming out and supporting Buena Interact! A special Thank You to Jessica Castaneda who is our faculty advisor at Buena. Jessica brings an energy and enthusiasm that I can feel is rubbing off onto the students. I was also quite impressed by the amount of research Jessica did on Rotary, The Rotary Club of Ventura-East and Interact before the first meeting! We are lucky to have Jessica as our advisor!
