Hello friends and fellow Rotarians of Ventura East. Welcome to the second week of 2022. Unfortunately, the year is starting out with some difficulties, which I think was expected by many. As we gathered together for the holidays, many became infected with the new strain of the Virus, and the flu, or maybe even the combination. City and county buildings are shut down for a while, and we are all getting a bit frustrated. I heard that the government is going to change its tactics, and, rather than make announcements of how to end this thing, they will start to concentrate on how to live with it.  Unfortunately, I think that most would agree that it is not going away anytime soon.  This was obvious with the size of last weeks meeting. Many members were exposed during family gatherings, and did not want to take the chance of being contagious. For now, for the most part, we will continue to operate as normal as possible. We have three things this month that could change however. Jan. 15 we will be working with the other 2 Ventura Rotary Clubs to package meals for the Rise Against Hunger event. On the 20^th, we are scheduled to have our Club Social, however, with things closing down, we will NOT have our social this month. We will be running our regular in person meeting on the 20^th.   The District Conference in Santa Barbra, which was scheduled for January 28^th – 30^th, has been canceled.
