On January 13^th our Club lost a founding member when Pete Gallagher passed, leaving this life to spend eternity with Tootie, his wife of over 64 years. 

 

Pete will be honored this Sunday, February 2^nd 11:00am at the Poinsettia Pavilion in our Rotary meeting room.  I can’t think of a more fitting location to honor our friend than the Pavilion.  Please try to attend as this will be a time to celebrate Pete and all he did for Rotary in Ventura and the World.

 

Pete gave freely of his time, talents, and treasures to Rotary.  We have a scholarship in Pete and Tootie’s name, a generous donation given to our Club Foundation.  During his 54 years as a Rotarian, Pete refurbished two ambulances and a fire truck donated to serve rural Mexican villages.  He faithfully worked to deliver poinsettias every year, served on the bar-b-q team, and most importantly decorated and drove his truck in the City’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  I could go on and on, Pete was a true example of Rotary’s Service Above Self.  He will be missed.  I’ll see you Sunday.

 

This week our program will be an update from Rotaract on their “Mexico Build” project.  As you know, our Club not only provided financial support, but a few of our members provided some sweat equity to the build, as well.  It’s going to be wonderful to hear in greater detail about the impact this project had on one family in Mexico.  Let’s show our continued support for Rotaract, see you Thursday.
