What a wonderful Scholarship Awards event last week!! Thank you to all the members who attended to celebrate and honor the students receiving new awards this year, and to Tim Hughes and the Scholarship Committee: Derek, Dawn, Jacquelyn. We can be proud of the difference we make in the future by supporting these promising young scholars who have already embraced the Rotary mission of making the world a better place. Twenty-six previous awardees reapplied for and were granted awards as they progress in their studies; bringing our total awards this year to $125,000 and overall awards passing the $1 million milestone!! A tribute to the club Foundation and the member donations and bequests that have made this possible.
This week we will be back in our regular room for lunch and a general meeting, then we will carpool down to the Family Justice Center ( across from VCMC) for a tour at 12:45. We have been supporting the VCFJC and the important work they do, and I am very happy that we are able to finally visit the site. This is another great opportunity to bring a guest and share what Rotary and RCVE are all about. It’s also a reason to clean out your car.
We have tickets for the Food, Wine, and Beer Festival on June 8th at Camp Arnaz. Please promote this event. Tickets are $60 for a festive afternoon of sampling some of the best Ventura County has to offer.
