We had a great meeting last week: RYLA student, Lyndie Brown gave us a recap of her experience at the Rotary Youth Leadership Assembly last month and reminded us how important investing in our youth is to the future. Interact Advisor Lauren Lanski gave us an update on Interact and the impact Rotary’s support has on the students and her utmost appreciation for Ashley Pope’s commitment and support as our club coordinator for Interact. Ashley was there to make the introductions and accepted cash pledges for Interact and the hygiene/supplies closet that is available to students on campus.
Greg and Sarah Abrams from Love VC joined us and were presented with both a sponsorship check of $1000 for LoveVC this year AND a Paul Harris Fellow Award for their dedication to our community. They have made the first Saturday in October a fun day of coordinated community service projects. And are a clearinghouse for service volunteer opportunities year round.
We have tickets for the Food, Wine, and Beer Festival on June 8th at Camp Arnaz. If you have not picked up a pair of tickets to try to sell, go see Cal. Any tickets you sell need to have the ticket stub filled out and returned with the payment. Thank you for promoting this event anywhere and everywhere. Tickets are $60 for a festive afternoon of sampling some of the best Ventura County has to offer. There are also still sponsorship opportunities available for food and beverage providers as well as advertising sponsors. Message Cal or see the flyers posted on the club website.
This Saturday, May 18th, is the Walk to Cure Arthritis at the Collection at Riverpark. Sign up at www.walktocurearthritis/venturacounty or show up to support this organization. I’m sure many of us are living with some level of arthritis and all of us know someone who has to deal with this condition daily, so I encourage you to lace up your walking shoes and join this event.
