This week we are meeting at the Ventura History Museum, 100 E. Main Street. Lunch will be served at noon followed by a tour and talk about the County’s 150 years. We will also be launching our Poinsettia Sales. Please attend. Follow up emails will be sent out so everyone can spread the word and collect orders. There is an order form available to download in the Breeze also.
Eight of us attended the District Conference last weekend. Thank you to Michelle Zdybowicz for being a conference sponsor and being a liaison with the Korean delegation. And to Jacquelyn Gargano for being there and being a presenter. To Bill Spellman and his lovely wife Lynne, I’m so glad you were there. Thanks to Bruce McGee and Dawn Knowles for helping me divide and conquer all the breakout sessions, and Bruce especially for running the hospitality suite. Margarida Eidson was in charge of the conference and the District Governor and still facilitated a couple of dynamic breakout sessions. Extraordinary. So many good ideas, important and timely information, inspiring programs. Made new friends and connected with long time Rotarians. And had so much fun!
The World Polio Day celebration at the Crowne Plaza, hosted by Rotary Club of Ventura, was a delightful evening. Fun fifties festivities, decor, and yummy burgers, onion rings and root beer floats. You can sign up to become a member of the Polio Plus Society all year long; a pledge of $100 per year until Polio is eradicated; we are so close, let’s see this through.
Our social at the Cave last week was well attended. The mac and cheese pizza and salmon pappardelle received 5 star reviews . This was our last restaurant social of 2023. We will not have a social in November since we need to wrap our our poinsettia sales and prepare for the delivery. December’s social will be our Holiday Party and Kim and Bill Gray’s home.
We welcome Wade Nomura back on November 2nd with a program on the RI Foundation, sharing what is possible when working on a global scale and how your donations come back to the club and go out to create hope in the world.
