We are a leadership organization comprising of local business, civic and professional leaders.
 
We are a nonpolitical, nonsectarian service club.
 
We meet regularly to get to know each other, form friendships and through that we are able to get things done in this community. Like:
  • Scholarships at 5 local high schools,
  • Interact Clubs at 3 local schools.
  • Support the YMCA, City Center, Ventura Botanical Gardens
  • Promote literacy and career guidance in schools
 
Internationally we support a huge project our club started called GoCare in Nicaragua and contribute to eliminating Polio worldwide.
 
The Rotary Club of  Ventura-East meets Thursday noon to 1:30 at the Poinsettia Pavilion in Ventura. Come and learn more about Rotary's humanitarian service, high ethical standards in all vocations and help build good will in this community.

I searched the dictionary all weekend looking for a word that best describes last Thursday’s program, because Wonderful just wouldn’t cut it!!  If you missed the performance of songs from the upcoming performance of “Into the Woods” by the Rubicon Kids Theater Troop, you missed an Extraordinary program!!  I can’t wait to see the live performance at the Rubicon next month…. More on that Thursday.
 
Speaking of this Thursday, I am sure you’re not going to want to miss our program!!  We have the pleasure of hearing from our Mayor Matt Levere, as he updates us on the state of our City.  So bring a guest and your questions, should be interesting and informative.
 
Also, as I mentioned Thursday, our very own Sharon Daly will be leaving for Africa next month, in support of the Mossy Foot Project.  Sharon is planning to take with her as many elastic bandages and large socks as she can carry.  These items will be given to patients who visit the Mossy Foot clinics. My hope is that we can supply her with more than she can carry!!  So please bring these items with you to the next few meetings and place them in the Mossy Foot Project basket, and we’ll give them to Sharon before she leaves.  You may ask, “What about shoes?”  Sharon has informed me that since the patient’s feet are so large, local shoe makers produce the shoes for the clinics.  The cost to produce each pair is $17.00.  So, if you’re unable to gather socks or bandages, you may want to donate directly to Mossy Foot!!
Let’s make an Impact in Africa!!

Todd Juvonen led us in the Flag Salute today.
 
President Jeff gave our Inspirational Message.
 
Bill Gray introduced guests & visiting Rotarians.
 
President Jeff thanked Cal Magro for greeting & Rich Stewart for taking attendance.
 
Margarida Eidson announced out opportunity drawing was $50 cash generously donated by Margarida Eidson.
 
Presidents announcements:

  • August – Exchange student from Japan arrives
    • Still need host family for last three months of stay.
  • October 12th – District Assembly – Santa Ynez
Bruce McGee spoke about the District Assembly and who some of the speakers will be.
 
Avenues of Service:
  • Amber Stevens thanked everyone who came out for the Push-em Pull-em parade. We had a great turnout from the club and the public!
  • Sharon Daly will be in Ethiopia in August. She would like to take some supplies back with her. We will have a list of items needed if anyone would like to donate.
  • Margarida = Aug. 1 Blood Drive.
  • Joe Strohman will be cutting checks for scholarships next week.
