Every year the Rotary Club of Ventura Foundation awards thousands of dollars in scholarships and this year we gave $100,000.00. The Rotary Club of Ventura-East scholarships are made possible by the many contributions from club members, the Rotary Club of Ventura-East Foundation, Inc and the following major donors. Robert “Bob” Beckwith, Eric Nicolet, Devere (“Pete”) & Arlene (“Tootie”) Gallagher, and Neal Cummins.
During our last meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from the repeat awardees. It was wonderful to find out what they are doing and how grateful they are for the scholarships received. I cannot wait to hear from the awardees that are receiving our scholarships for the first time.
Thanks to Tim Hughes and your team for reading all the applications and selecting our scholarship recipients and for putting the Zoom meeting together. Thanks also to Joe Strohman for organizing and sending out all 38 checks to the different colleges.
Our Pavilion Takeaway Dinners have been a huge success and I look forward to seeing our Rotarians every week. Thanks to Ken Kagan and Laura Shannon for helping with the distribution of the dinners.
I hope you can join us for this Thursday’s Zoom meeting. Our speaker will be Beverly Ward from the Rubicon theater. She will have her summer students singing for us. We will then hear from our very own Jeff Burgh on the latest with Ventura County.
