Season’s Greetings members and friends. Although Christmas Day is over, we are still in the season, and I hope that the festive spirit stays with us for a long time. Now the real work begins. The first thing we have to do is figure out how we are going to finish all of the “left-overs”. Next, is plan a day to go out and wear our new fancy “DUDS”. Maybe a New Year’s Eve Celebration at the Poinsettia Pavilion.  Now, we have so many nice gifts that we have to find room in the closets, or kitchen cupboards, or garage, to put all of our new treasures that we just can’t wait to try out. One last thing that I forgot to mention. The exchanges. The store is now busier than before Christmas, and the shelves are empty. How will we ever find it in the right size or color? This is the time that we truly realize how blessed that we really are. We have more things that we really need, but, more importantly, we have so many that love us and want to share that love. It’s not time to put away the decorations quite yet. For my family, that doesn’t happen until the Feast of the Epiphany, January 6^th. NOW, the real work is over.

 

Our meeting this week will be a meeting of celebration, and of my vision going forward. We will be celebrating the past year and all of our accomplishments. The scholarships, the backpack project, the gifts to the military, the Foodshare project, the donations to The Rotaract club helping to make a difference. My vision moving forward is to meet the other Ventura Rotarians to see what projects might be too large for one club to tackle, but might be accomplished as a group effort. After all, we are not in competition with these clubs, we all trying to help make this world just a little bit better.
