Rotarians are always invited, but bring your significant other with you to this event. Wine & Teas will be available to "Sip" on during this event. There will be a $10 cost to cover materials for this event. |

Call Me Capable

Carol Leish invites her audience to discover her way of coping with physical and emotional challenges as the result of being hit by a drunk driver as an infant and the tragic death of her mother as a teenager. Carol uses fun and humor to educate people in the many strengths that people with disabilities have and has also created a game: Call Me Capable™, that was published for 15 years, to reinforce this. Learning Objectives: From Carol the audience will be able to:
Carol focuses on the importance of having a positive attitude, with humor, in order to cope with various situations. She focuses on various ways of dealing with both her own physical and emotional challenges. She also emphasizes the various ways that she's been able to accommodate to various situations. Carol is speaking from her own personal experiences of coping with various challenges most of her life. She has also worked with a variety of individuals with various physical, emotional, and/or, learning challenges through teaching and working with various nonprofits over the years. She created the Call Me Capable ™Game that deals with sensitivity training and was published for 15 years. She has also written many articles for various local newspapers within Ventura County on issues related to people with senior issues and/or people with challenges. She has her grad degree in Education from CSU San Bernardino. Carol is a unique motivational speaker, writer, and trainer, with over twenty years of national public speaking. She also has an elementary teaching background and has worked with various social service agencies. Her programs offer the audience a unique insight into the physically, emotionally, and learning challenged since she is speaking from her own personal experiences. She enlightens people by focusing on the strengths that people with challenges have. She demonstrates that there is always a way to get around situations by accommodating to them. Thus, she makes us realize that we are all more similar than different. |
