The Local Love Project/ 805 Strong
Jan. 18, 2018
The Local Love Project/ 805 Strong Together we can get through it. When founder Kat Merrick created Totally Local VC over 9 years ago she and her team made a solid commitment to our community to serve and now more then ever we knew that we had to honor that commitment... together. Totally Local VC’s Local Love Project Mission Statement Our goal is to activate members of our community in the aftermath of a traumatic event within Ventura County and the 805 areas to provide relief and support to those affected by a disaster or in a time of need. This is locals helping locals.
What We Do We work to solve immediate needs for those impacted by the Thomas Fire. We work to provide the necessary items to help our neighbors as they work to restore their lives.
Who We Are In the early morning hours of Tuesday Dec 5th 2017 The Thomas Fire broke out in Santa Paula, California. It quickly swept over the hills of Santa Paula, Ventura, Ojai, and into Fillmore and made its way into the neighboring Santa Barbara County. Hundreds of homes were lost and thousands evacuated as many watched their homes burn to the ground. The Wicked Wire Ranch home to Totally Local VC was one of these homes/ranches lost. With little direction and many not knowing what to do, locals across the county sprung into action in an effort to help their neighbors. Having first hand experience in this crisis Totally Local VC once again knew that we could make a positive impact on our community by helping those in need. We immediately activated our team and our community partners to help try and solve the needs of those effected. In true Totally Local VC style we partnered with individuals both in our community and nation wide and with other organizations with the same desire to help and the Local Love Project was born. |
