Rocky Siegel Named Paul Harris Fellow by President Liz Alves

President Liz Alves recognized Richard “Rocky” Siegel as a Paul Harris Fellow in appreciation of his extraordinary dedication to community safety and service.

Rocky has served with the San Marcos Pass Volunteer Fire Department, an all-volunteer program of the Wildland Residents Association, since 1982. These volunteers are often the first responders to reports of smoke, flames, and vehicle fires throughout our mountain communities. Rocky became Captain in 1995 and has served as the department’s Chief Officer for the past seven years, training and leading the volunteer crew while continuing to serve on the frontline himself.

A longtime fellow resident of the San Marcos Trout Club, Rocky fought to protect his neighbors’ homes during the 1990 Painted Cave Fire. He later led the effort to secure Firewise community designation from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), making the Trout Club the first Firewise community in Santa Barbara County. Today, more than 50 local communities have followed this model of preparedness and resilience.

Rocky’s leadership, integrity, and commitment to safety exemplify Rotary’s mission to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. We were delighted to welcome his wife, Mary Siegel, and fellow Trout Club resident Todd Bryan as part of this special recognition.

Please join us in congratulating Rocky on this well-deserved honor.
