Funding provided for dental equipment and cleaning for 350 children in Nicaragua.
At a recent meeting of the club's International Service Committee, members voted to support the dental program at the Nueva Vida Clinic in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua. Funds will purchase a Cavitron Sonic Scaler teeth cleaner, an Amalgamator to blend restorative dental materials, and will cover the cost of twice yearly dental cleaning, including sealants, fluoride treatment and any repairs or extractions needed for 350 primary and preschool children. Staff have learned that children there love to go to the dentist but they recently lost their former funding for this project. The hope is to get the children into the habit when they are small, then they will grow up to be healthier and with good oral hygiene habits.
