Ten Graduating Students Receive Laptops for College
Graduating students from La Cuesta High School who wish to move onto higher education are often disadvantaged by the lack of access to a computer. They used the computers at the high school for assignments while they were enrolled but moving on to higher education those computers are not available to them. These students have surpassed many challenges to graduate and those same challenges often prevent them from financing the purchase of a computer. The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise awarded 10 graduating seniors with a new Dell laptop loaded with Microsoft Office for Students. The students who have elected to pursue a college education participated in a selection process that included an interview and the assignment of a Rotary mentor. The laptops were presented at a ceremony held on June 23, 2021. This project will be repeated after this pilot effort has proven effective.
