Rotary Hill dedicated to Group 8 Clubs.

More than 75 Rotarians and Rotaractors from the nine clubs in Santa Barbara, Carpinteria, Montecito, and Goleta clubs got together for a big workday at Camp Whittier!

Kim Fly, Assistant Governor for Group 8, and camp staff organized this full day of improvement projects for Camp Whittier. Camp Whittier is a 95-acre resident camp in the Santa Ynez valley across from Lake Cachuma operated by United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County.

Projects were identified to comply with current Santa Barbara County COVID safety guidelines. Some of the projects included painting cabins, bridges, and fire pit benches; power washing sports court; repairs to archery area; cleaning barn and Ropes course area; and weeding.

A dedication ceremony was held to honor Rotary’s longtime support of the camp. The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise has been providing improvements annually to the camp for 23 years. Michael Baker, Chief Executive Officer, United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County, made remarks and unveiled a new area of the camp called Rotary Hill.
