280 wheelchairs will be sent to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise Charitable Foundation sent $1,000 towards a container of 280 wheelchairs from the Free Wheelchair Mission organization to go to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The costs of a container of wheelchairs is $56,000, of which the Free Wheelchair organization funds half. Almost all the other half has been collected from other District 5240 Rotary clubs as well as clubs in Mexico and other organizations.
Free Wheelchair Mission is a humanitarian, faith-based nonprofit that designs and manufactures cost-efficient, durable wheelchairs for developing countries around the world. In collaboration with a network of like-minded partners, Free Wheelchair Mission has distributed more than 1.3 million wheelchairs to people living with disabilities in 94 developing countries around the world, providing renewed dignity, independence, and hope through the gift of mobility, at no cost to the recipient.
