Connard Hogan has been inducted as the new president of the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise.

Hogan is a retired California Marriage and Family Therapist after working twenty-five years in various non-profit organizations which focused on the treatment of Drug and Alcohol addiction and major psychiatric disorders.

Hogan has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise since 2005.  Prior to serving as Club President, he has served in leadership roles including Membership Director and International Service Director.

His international humanitarian work includes supporting a number of service projects in Mexico, Nicaragua, Brazil, Thailand and India. He also participated in a Rotary National Immunization Day (NID) trip to India where he and his team immunized young children against the Poliovirus.

His initial interest in “service to others” grew during his military tour in Vietnam, 1969-1970.  Following his honorable discharge, he received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Western Kentucky University, where he also minored in Social Work and Psychology, then earned a Masters Degree in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling from the University of San Francisco.

Soon after retiring, and inspired by participation in National Immunization Day in India, he joined Rotary as a way to continue his service to others.

A Santa Barbara resident, Hogan lives with his wife, Janet Napier, who is also a Rotarian. Since retirement he has explored his interests in travel, including long-distance hiking and mountain climbing, ceramic creation, and writing. His theme for the Rotary year is "Climb every mountain.”
