Back To School Service Project

Sunrise Rotarians! We have an exciting collaboration scheduled for Saturday, August 13.  We will be partnering with the Kiwanis of Santa Barbara, who are celebrating their 100^th Anniversary, on a service project that will clothe 100 children from Cleveland School, grades 3rd-6^th, prior to the start of school! The Community Service Committee voted unanimously to match the Kiwanis’ donation of $5,000 toward the project! 

Kiwanis and Rotarian volunteers will work together to help the children and their parents shop for a pair of shoes, clothes and a jacket at Old Navy, another project sponsor. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church has also donated $3,000 to provide 100 backpacks full of school supplies to these youth. The children will also get to enjoy a meal courtesy of McDonalds!

The work will happen between 7:30am- 11:00am on Saturday, August 13, when Old Navy (1137 State Street) is closed to the public. A signup sheet will be going around again at our August 3^rd meeting! Don’t miss participating in this fun, exciting, a very rewarding project! This is what Rotary and “Service Above Self” is all about!
