New Member induction by Membership Chair Cathy Calabro. Welcome new member Maria O. Garcia. Maria was born and raised in Santa Barbara, she is a retired hospice nurse, plays the ukulele, a docent at the Santa Barbara Courthouse and volunteers for numerous non-profits in town and yes, she is the younger sister of President Gil Garcia.
Joe Dobbs was presented with a Certificate of Perfect Attendance by Past-President Marti Correa de Garcia. Joe joined Rotary in 1959, prior to Rotary International attendance changes Joe never missed a meeting. If he was traveling he would make-up a meeting at different Rotary Clubs around the world and/or get on the internet and make-up a meeting.

MEGA BUCKS
Gil Garica pledged a Mega Buck because he will be traveling to Puerto Vallarta next week, he will be accompanied by his spouse, Marti Correa de Garcia.
Father Larry pledged a Mega Buck honoring his French heritage on his grandparent’s side and he will be heading up a pilgimage tour group to Italy next week.
Blas Garza pledged a Mega Buck in order to get a travel pass to Texas, “God’s Country”.
Guy de Mangeon pledged two Mega Bucks because of his many travels. Patricia Juin and he went to Tahiti, Europe, visiting his grandson in Amsterdam. He spent time in Madrid, Spain, and France. When they returned, he was visited by his cousin from France and had to cook for over 9 people. He caught Covid but he’s now Covid-Free.
OPPORTUNITY DRAWING
Anthony Clark did a great job selling opportunity drawing tickets, especially when only 4 red marbles were in the black bag. It was Guy de Mangeon’s lucky day, he won both the Berry Man certificate and the jackpot. Congratulations Guy!
JENNIFER PARKS, DIRECTOR OF McDERMOTT-CROCKETT MORTUAY
Guest Speaker Jennifer Parks, Director of McDermott-Crockett Mortuary and Olivia Carranza, staff member presented an interesting program.
McDermott-Crockett Mortuary is the oldest mortuary in Santa Barbara. Ms. Parks explained that a lot of myths surround the funeral process. she encouraged members to start preparing for celebration of who you are, sharing your life and/or honoring your life. She suggested going to a website: Get Your Shit Together, an easy way to prepare for the eventual and the unexpected. Cremation currently accounts for 90% of burials. Becoming popular are bio-degradable or green burials.
