Of the things we think, say, or do:
  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

GUEST SPEAKER PRESENTATION
By:  Rotarian Sandra Stoltz

Sandra Stoltz comes to us via ZOOM from Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico.  She is a member of the Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur. Her husband Malcom Laird are both Rotarians, moving to Puerto Vallarta in October of 2011 from Canada. For many years Sandra was a practicing “barrister” in the Canadian courts. In the 30-year history of Rotary Club PV Sur she is the first “ex-pat” and non-Mexican woman to be President of the Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur.

Going over her Power-Point presentation she gave a glance into the activities of her Club and the many projects both our clubs have jointly been involved in. Some of the programs have included:

  • Volcanes Food Bank program to feed over 500 families every week for over 17 months during the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Volcanes Sewing School project. Helping mothers support their families by learning to sew and eventually assisting with various sewing jobs.
  • The Beca Program (scholarships for students). Mike Bergquist and Terry Straeley have adopted several students and have assisted  with their schooling.
  • Worked together to build the Santa Barbara Rehabilitation Clinic (started in 1988).

The Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur is recognized for its many community projects. Barry Shulman remembers Gil Garcia and him going to outlining pueblos to distribute water filters. These water filters provide clean water specifically to communities without electricity. This program started in January of 2012. The Club also partners with other U.S. and Canadian Rotary Clubs.

Sandra was a great speaker, we thanked her for sharing the many projects Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta Sur is involved with.
