Rotary Guest:  Rafa and Erick, special artists from Mexico that partook in this year’s Santa Barbara I. Madonnari Street Painting Festival.  Both artists have participated in the Puerto Vallarta Street Painting Festival.
 
ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
President-Elect Jim Lisi sent out an on-line Rotary Club of Santa Barbara North survey. All members are encouraged to take the survey, answers to the questions will be used to determine next year's Rotary activities and beyond.  Thank you in advance for your valuable input.
 
Rotary International Conference to be held in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, June 21-25, 2025.  Next year’s conference will be held in Taipei, Taiwan.
 
A Stand-Up Board Meeting is being held after our lunch meeting.
 
Principal Kelly Fresch will be at the Cathy Calabro’s Step-Down event to receive a “Vocational Service Award”.
 
Memorial Day was on Monday; we honor the U.S. Armed Forces.  Gil Garcia served in the Air Force.
 
The Interact Club of San Marcos High School made and sold cookies Memorial Day weekend.  They made over $200 which will be donated to Rotary International projects.

The Mission Statement of “Community Friends of Santa Barbara is a nonprofit all volunteer organization that develops and implements programs to benefit children and adults in Santa Barbara County”.
 
Serving Santa Barbara since 1948, the non-profit is a member-volunteer run organization with no executive director or paid staff.  They have over 350 members, volunteering over 50,000 hours a year.  Their programs are:
  • Youth & Education – Helping young people thrive in and out of the classroom.  From new school clothes to college scholarships. Supporting their success through essential supplies and personal growth.
  • Health & Wellness – Caring for bodies, minds, and spirits. Promoting dental health, supporting adults with disabilities, and providing essentials to those in need.
  • Seniors & Assistance – Connection, compassion, and support for older adults and those with disabilities. Provide local seniors with nourishing luncheons, joyful events, programs that ease isolation and foster dignity.
  • Community & Outreach – Meeting needs spreading kindness, strengthening community. 
Supported by an amazing Thrift Shop filled with hidden gems, great deals, and one-of-a-kind finds.  Last year sales from the Thrift Shop made almost $1 million dollars. Located at 1259 Veronic Springs Road, Santa Barbara, hours are from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

ADAMS SCHOOL - I.MADONNARI
Six (6) students from Adams Elementary School participated in the Santa Barbara I. Madonnari Street Painting Festival.
ADAMS SCHOOL - MURAL
Event at Adams Elementary School, ribbon-cutting on June 6, 2025, to celebrate the completion of an educational student interactive Mural Project based on the theme “OCEAN GUARDIANS”.  Artist Emiliano Campobello has been working with Adams School students to educate and create a sea creature of their liking.
