Executive Director, Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation
The Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation is celebrating 17 years in 2019! They have impacted the lives of hundreds of families in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. Teddy Bear is committed to helping children with cancer through their 3 programs which include financial stability, emotional support, and an educational advocacy.

Through Teddy Bear’s financial stability program, families can receive up to $5,000 to help pay for expenses. These expenses include hotel stays, transportation, and rent/mortgage payments.

Teddy Bear’s emotional support program goes beyond helping the child but also aims to help the family as well. The foundation has family counseling which allows the family to heal and go through the process as a whole. This is important as it enables the family to stick together through the difficult times and stay emotionally balanced. Another part of the program is called the “Bear” Necessities. They provide furniture, clothing, care packages, and appliances to the families in need. This allows the family to feel at ease and comfortable. Family connection events also allow a multitude of families to talk and get the support they need from one another. Project Holiday is the last part of Teddy Bear’s emotional support program. This project aims to gift the children with Christmas presents, Easter baskets, Thanksgiving dinners, Valentines Day cards, and grocery vouchers. The items are delivered to the recipients homes thanks to volunteers and generous donors in the community.

The last program is Educational Advocacy. It is essential that the children feel comfort before going back to school. This offers tutoring and neuropsychological testing to the children to ensure they are at their best when they go back to school and are not behind in any way.

Overall, the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation has done an incredible job in helping families in the surrounding areas through financial, emotional, and educational programs. However, it would not be possible without supporters like you!
