Our January 18th lunch meeting was hosted by the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. After a gourmet lunch catered by Jersey Mikes Subs, Director Greg Gorga gave a presentation about “Oil” in the Santa Barbara area, a very informative subject. After the meeting some members took advantage of touring the museum. At the end of Greg’s presentation he signed a library book for Adams School “Patterns at School” by Bela Davis.
On January 17thGil Garcia and I attended a Rotary International and District grant training program via ZOOM. Joe Lanza will be participating in another grant training program on January 19th, also via ZOOM. In order for a Club to apply for a District or International grant the club must be certified, to be certified at least two members from a club must participate in a grant training program. This certification is for the Rotary year 2023-2024.
On Saturday, January 21st I attended a ZOOM meeting, Midterms. Can’t believe I am at the halfway mark of the Rotary year as your President. One of the discussion items was a chat group of District Presidents to pose questions and get feedback from each other. District Governor Scott Phillips has set-up a WhatsApp group. Gil Garcia your President-Elect 2023-24 and Cathy Calabro your President-Elect Nominee 2024-25 also attended the Midterms ZOOM meeting.
I am pleased to see that our new members, Veronica Gallardo and Kathy Bazarcanan have taken on some Rotary duties.
Hope to see you February 1st at The Brewhouse Restaurant.
