PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

As the year comes to an end I want to wish all our Rotary members a great 2023 new year.

We still haven't found a permanent home for our lunch meetings. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to TEXT, call or e-mail me.

On Sunday, December 18th we had a joint Holiday event with the Santa Barbara/Puerto Vallarta Sister City gang. Our Rotary Club provided the holiday auction items, making over $750 for our club.

At the beginning of the month 8 of our Rotary Club members joined the annual SB/PV Sister City organization visit to Puerto Vallarta. The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise sent 7 members and the Rotary Club of Santa Cruz Sunrise had 4 members join in the 50th Anniversary Celebration of brotherhood between Santa Barbara and Puerto Vallarta. Our club was presented with an $800 donation check from the Sister City organization.

ROTARY CLUB OF SBN MEETING UP-DATE

Thank you John Engstrom for leading the Pledge and Invocation. And, thank you to Blas Garza for leading us in a Sing-a-long.

SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS

Mike Bergquist was presented with a Paul Harris for his tireless work as President of the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara North Charitable Foundation. His new Paul Harris pin included two rubies. Congratulations to Michael!

Santa Barbara/Puerto Vallarta Sister City President Sebastian Aldana Jr. presented our club with a $800 check.

While in Puerto Vallarta we signed the formation of a sister club relationship with Rotary Club Puerto Vallarta Sur (Jalisco, Mexico) and, through mutual exchange among members, commit ourselves to seek the advancement of the ideals and friendly relations betwern the peoples of both countries. The goal and purpose of both the Santa Barbara North Rotary Club and Rotary Club Vallarta Sur is to promote internatiional uderstanding, goodwill, and peace through a worldwide brotherhood of businessmen and professionals united in the ideal of service.

MEGA BUCKS

Jim Lisi pledged a Mega Buck because his son came home for the holidays from college.

Blas Garza pledged a Mega Buck in honor of his brother's passing last week in Texas.

Mike Bergquest pledged two Mega Bucks. One beause is son is coming from Paris for the holidays, the other one for his new Paul Harris.

Joe Lanza pledged a Mega Buck for his trip to Puerto Vallarta.

Gil Garcia pledged a Mega Buck in honor of the Santa Barbara/Puerto Vallarta Sister City's Four-Pillars . . . Amistad (Friendship), Hermandad (Brotherhood), Respecto (Respect) and Amor (Love).

NEW ROTARY CLUB MEMBER

Katherine "Kathy" Bazarganan was inducted into our Rotary Club on December 14th. Kathy is the owner of San Andres Hardware and 805 Hadwood Flooring. She is the mother of three children, all attend Adams School. Her partner is Sean Guzman. Her hobbies are art & oil painting, creating, and design.

NEW ROTARY CLUB MEMBER

Veronica Gallardo was inducted into our Rotary Club on December 14th. Veronica is the owner/independent contractor specialists for reading literacy. She has been a teacher and principle at a local elementary school. She is a Board of Trustees of the Santa Barbara Community College District for over 10 years. She is married to Juan Gallardo and mother of two.
