Jacqueline Duran reminded the membership about the upcoming Halloween Boo Bash Fun Family Fest scheduled for Saturday, October 28th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. at Chase Palm Park.  This is the First Annu Halloween event, taking the place of the Poinsettia Sales we did for years before the cannabis industry took over the poinsettia  market.  Jacqueline encouraged all members to participate in this event, volunteering the day of the event, sponsorship, and/or participating with your kids, grandkids or dogs in the costume contest.  A special thanks to Guy de Mangeon & The Berry Man Inc. for the THRILLER SPONSOR $5,000.

 

President Garcia announced a new initiative to be announced next year by Rotary International:  PROJECT SMART:

Special note:  PROJECT SMART has identified Grant funds available to implement these programs in local clubs.

 

Emiliano Campobello gave an update on the Mural he will be doing with Sara Leo’s art students at Adams School.  

 

 

Cathy Calabro pledged a Mega Buck because she was a Team Captain for the Alzheimer’s Walk last weekend, she  thanked Tom Jacobs and Patricia Juin for participating in the walk.

 

Patricia Juin pledged a Mega Buck in honor of Anthony Clark’s birthday.  We sang Happy Birthday to Anthony.

 

Gil Garcia pledged a Mega Buck honoring future Rotarian . . . Anthony Clark’s 8-month-old son.

 

Michael Bergquist pledged a Mega Buck (to be published shortly)

 

 

Anthony Clark drew the winning number, but he was kind enough to donate it to Lisa Gosdschan who will give it to a family that participates in the CADA’s Mentor program.  

 

 

Gina Cosio is the Regional Manager of the Braille Institute, involved in the institute for over 13 years.  SteVe Serpas is the Associate Director of Development.

 

The Braille Institute of America (BIA) is a nonprofit organization with headquarters in Los Angeles providing programs, seminars and one-on-one instruction for the visually impaired community in Southern California. Funded entirely by private donations, all of the institute's services are provided completely free of charge. The organization has seven regional centers: Anaheim, Coachella Valley, Laguna Hills, Los Angeles, Riverside, San Diego and Santa Barbara, as well as outreach programs at more than 200 locations throughout Southern California. It is a member of the Braille Authority of Northern California.

 

BIA serves children, youth and adults, with the goal of helping its clients adapt to life with low vision and achieving fulfilling, independent lives. The organization offers instruction in adaptive cooking, home skills, mobility training and staying connected through technology. BIA's publishing arm produces "The Braille Special Collection," several series of free children's books in Braille, designed to foster an early love of reading and promote Braille Literacy.
