Steve Young- Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah 2017 began in the evening of September 20th., Dr. Young also announced that he will be retiring in December.
Kim Bish- In memory of two wonderful mentors who past-away.
Blas Garza- Mr. Garza’s grandson now plays among the top musicians in his academy and is going to a competition in Boston.
Jim Lisi- Jim’s article is on legal magazine. He will also be teaching a continuing education class at the local law school.

Announcements: Stanley Weinstein introduced Ernestina Angel-Salcedo.
Ernestina is a Superior Office Coordinator who goes above and beyond to support the students, parents, teachers, staff, school and principal at Adams Elementary School. Ernestina takes initiative to ensure the highest quality of customer service that is delivered in a professional manner to everyone.
Ernestina is an advocate for the school’s low socio-economic families as she connects families to social services. She has also volunteers hundreds of hours to serve as an interpreter for English Language Learner parents during school events and parent meetings in order to ensure parent comfort and translation accuracy. Ernestina leads with the hand, the heart and the mind. It is an honor to have Ernestina at Adams Elementary School.

Kelly Fresch, new Principal at Adams Elementary School
Program: Dennis Waid introduced Kelly Fresch, new Principal at Adams Elementary School
Kelly Fresch most recently worked as principal of Guin Foss Elementary School in Tustin, California and has experience as an elementary school teacher. Kelly earned a Master of Arts degree in educational leadership and administrative services credential. She also completed a Spanish immersion program from the International University of Language in Cuernavaca, Mexico.
There was a discussion led by Dennis Waid of the several projects that Rotary Santa Barbara North has been involved with at Adams Elementary School. The Rotary Santa Barbara North and Adams Partnership began in 1989. Bruse Micheel mentioned that our partnership is one the only ones that still remains as other local Rotary clubs had adopted other schools in 1989. Dennis talked about the Adams Family award, the library books, the campus clean up, the new Design Lab, and the Playground equipment to name a few. We discussed the Pathway project and the challenges involved and we will continue to explore options to find a solution on a potential pathway from the Earl Warren Showgrounds to the school grounds. Rotary Santa Barbara North is happy to continue the partnership with Adams Elementary School and we encouraged Kelly Fresch to let us know how we can help through volunteer work and or grants.
