ANNOUNCEMENTS
Jacquiline Duran announced that the Interact Club of San Marcos High School had its first Mental Wellness event at the High School. Speakers from the Mental Wellness Center were presenters.
Cathy Calabro announced the Santa Barbara/Toba, Japan Sister Cities organization is sponsoring a student exchange in the summer. Students must be from the ages of 13-15 years of age, Santa Barbara student will host brother/sister in their homes. Both groups are accompanied by a same-language chaperone. Cost is approx. $2500 and partial scholarships are available as needed. If you have a child or grandkid interested, please contact Sally Hamilton 805-453-1558 or e-mail sallyshamilton@gmail.com.
Cathy Calabro announced an original play reading from Claudia Hoag McGarry, SISTERS on Sunday, March 2nd 2:00-3:00 PM at Unity of Santa Barbara, 227 E. Arrellaga St., donation of $20 per person.
Tom Jacobs announced the upcoming Architectural Foundation of Santa Barbara’s High School Design Competition taking place on Tuesday, March 4th at two different Charrette locations (North & South County). The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara North sponsors a luncheon.
Cathy Calabro announced International Women’s Day event taking place on March 6 from 5-7 PM at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. The event will celebrate women’s achievements and champion progress.
HOSPICE of SANTA BARBARA, INC.
Introducing our guest speakers, David Selberg, Chief Executive Officer and Michael Cruse, Children & Family Service Program Manager.
The mission of hospice of Santa Barbara is to care for anyone experiencing the impact of a life-threatening illness, or grieving the death of a loved one.
They offer professional counseling for loved ones who have experienced a loss, both individual therapy by a licensed, experienced professional or support groups for all ages led by licensed professional counselors. Also offered are therapeutic Art & Poetry workshops.
They offer educational opportunities through school and community outreach, caregiver support, and presentions to local businesses. They also maintain an in-house lending library.
Mr. Cruse, is the program manager for the Children and Family Services, offering free professional grief counseling for children, teenagers and parents. They have a program called “I Have A Friend” Mentor Program that helps children who have experienced the death f a parent or sibling feel “normal” again through partnership with an adult mentor who suffered a similar loss as a child.

CRAFT TALK- ANTHONY CLARK

Anthony Clark, a proud fifth-generation Santa Barbara native, has deep roots in the community. His family’s legacy continues with his son, now the sixth generation born in the area. As a third-generation produce sales representative, Anthony currently works for The Berry Man. He attended Santa Ynez High School and studied at Santa Barbara City College before venturing to Arizona for life experience, where he interned with a nightlife promotion company. Upon returning home, he co-founded Dream Team Party Scene, a successful business that promoted nightclubs, restaurants, hotels and limousine services. His career then transitioned into hospitality, working at Bacara and the Four Seasons Biltmore in Montecito.
It was at the Biltmore where Anthony met his wife, Julianne. Their relationship led him to relocate to Orange County, where he worked as the overnight manager at The Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel so they could be together. Eventually, they moved back to Santa Barbara, and Anthony resumed his work at The Berry Man. In 2021, he and Julianne married, and in 2023, they welcomed their first son, Zayden. Now, as they prepare to welcome their second son at the end of April, Anthony is excited to continue growing his family and strengthening his ties to the Santa Barbara community through his involvement with the Rotary Club.

1. David Huber pledged a Mega Buck because he recently survived a diving trip in Indonesia and survived an incident in Santa Barbara. He named two Rotarians, Joe Lanza & John Holehouse animals on bicycles.
2. Jim Lisi pledged a Mega Buck because he survived PETS, Presidents Elect Training.
3. Tom Jacobs pledged a Mega Buck, celebrating the adoption of a 1-year-old Maltese Poodle.
